The Tour
Tour departs Johannesburg on Thursday 2nd August 2012, arriving in Denver the next day. Saturday we do bike hire admin before departing for Cheyenne, about 2 hours north of Denver. The tour is accompanied by a passenger van with trailer for luggage and non riding pax.
The next morning, Sunday, we leave Cheyenne earlyish for our 5 hour ride into Sturgis. This ride takes us through some beautiful country and quaint old towns such as Deadwood before arriving in Sturgis.
On arrival at the campsite, you’ll find tents pitched and ready for your stay in Sturgis. There’s lots of shade and green grass and the ablutions are clean and modern.
We spend the full week in Sturgis, leaving on the next Sunday. In Denver we hand back bikes and stay overnight in a hotel. Our flight leaves the next morning and we arrive back in Johannesburg on Wednesday 15th August. |

Riding to Sturgis
This is of course the proper way to do it! Bikers from all over the USA will be descending on South Dakota, so you’ll never be alone on the road. Bike rentals are under big pressure, especially in the centres closer to Sturgis. Renting a bike may require changing your destination in the USA, but don’t worry, we’ll assist with all that, and advise where you will be able to rent bikes from. You will only be required to do the actual hire transaction with the rental company. We suggest try and hire a couple of bikes from one destination and ride through to Sturgis in a group. We’ll assist with route planning and hotel bookings en-route. On arrival at the campsite you’ll find everything up and running, you’ll not have to lug camping equipment along with you on the bikes.. |

Rides
Most of the camp grounds arrange mass bike rides during the week to places of interest in the area. These include the Black Hills ride, Mount Rushmore, the Badlands and The Devil’s Pinnacle. The scenery in the area is magnificent and the roads are a biker’s dream. The only way to really experience the freedom of the USA is on a bike in the open country!! We’ll also be arranging our own rides to some of the great attractions in the area. |

| Breakaways and Add-On Options
For those wanting to stay on longer in the USA, breakaways can be arranged before or after the tour. Passengers must travel one complete leg with the group, either outbound or inbound.
West to East Add-on
This year we will be arranging an add on tour before Sturgis departing from San Francisco. The tour will take us down the famous Highway 1, a very scenic route along the Pacific Coastline, through Death Valley, into Las Vegas for 2 days before heading over the Rockies and joining the Sturgis Tour in Cheyenne. After Sturgis it will head on to Milwaukee for a visit to the Harley Museum and Factory, before finishing in Chicago. This tour departs Johannesburg Friday 27 July and can either end with the Sturgis Group in Denver or continue to Chicago, departing Chicago on Saturday 11 August. Please note! This add-on tour is hot, tough and long – only the strong must apply!
